Matt Kalkhoff is a freelance writer whose love for dance music is only surpassed by the depth and passion with which he writes about it.

Born and raised in a suburb of Detroit, Matt moved to Tampa in 1991 to explore various personal and professional opportunities. Frequent road trips to Miami and the many exhilarating nights out on the town that ensued finally convinced Matt to relocate to the sandy shores of South Beach a couple years later - right at the height of the billion dollar sandbar's resurgence. It was during this time that Matt developed a deep appreciation for dance music and the incredibly talented men and women who create it. After five years of living in paradise, though, Matt decided it was time to head back up north in pursuit of more creative opportunities. After a two-and-a-half year stopover in our nation's capital to regroup - where he enjoyed an unexpectedly thriving nightlife scene - Matt finally realized his lifelong dream of living in New York City, the center of the music universe.

Over the past several years, Matt has interviewed and written feature articles on many of the music industry's hottest DJs, producers and artists including, among others, Victor Calderone, Paul Oakenfold, Junior Vasquez, Peter Rauhofer, Kristine W, Paul van Dyk, Jonathan Peters, Razor 'N Guido and Ultra Naté. He has also written numerous previews and reviews of many of the biggest dance events and benefit parties in New York City and across North America, and Calderone and Rauhofer personally recruited Matt to write their official biographies which are featured on their respective websites. Matt is also a Contributing Editor for Dance Music @ About.com.
